Arsenal Could Secure Their New Gnabry With "Magic" £90m Whiz

Arsenal have endured some notorious transfer gaffes across their illustrious history, but few stand out more than their failure to see the potential of Serge Gnabry.

Is Ansu Fati leaving Barcelona?

The German was allowed to leave back in 2016, dismissed by the club and many others to be destined for an underwhelming career. Naturally, he has since proven them terribly wrong.

Despite that, the Gunners could be set to get a second chance on such a deal, should they turn one reported transfer target into a reality.

Having been linked just late last week, the suggestion they could move for Ansu Fati would offer Mikel Arteta a stunning compatriot to take under his wing and mould in his image. The Spain international has all the talent in the world and could be set to finally realise it at the Emirates.

Despite that, Barcelona are reportedly commanding a ludicrous fee of around £90m for his services, which Edu will seek to reduce considerably if they are to thrash out a move.

How many career goals does Ansu Fati have?

There are many attributes in the 20-year-old's game that liken him to Gnabry, which FBref serve to emphasise. They even include the Bayern Munich star on Fati's 'similar players' list, with their shared goal threat a huge factor in drawing them closer.

The 28-year-old has gone on to feature 218 times for the Bavarian giants, accumulating an admirable 132 goal contributions and winning five Bundesliga titles alongside his sole Champions League.

Meanwhile, his potential successor has only made 109 first-team appearances for the Catalan outfit, scoring 29 times and assisting a further ten. Given his youth, this does mark a surprisingly fine return, even with injuries recently stunting his progress.

Despite that, he did manage to maintain 51 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring seven in the league alone.

Such an ability to create and score from the flank, plus his desperation to invert from the left onto his favoured right foot, does seek to narrow the gap between Fati and Gnabry.

serge-gnabry-1

After all, the former could seek to emulate the fine career that the latter has enjoyed, whilst Arteta could do what Arsene Wenger could not and mould the trickster into his own special star rather than allowing him to slip through their grasp.

Teammate Eric Garcia has earmarked his compatriot for success in the present and the future, noting: "Ansu is one of these players who are born with this talent and this magic. I hope they respect his injuries, because in 20 minutes he has shown what he can help this team."

OneVersusOne perfectly sums up the key areas that truly link these wingers together, as they both star with regard to key passes per 90 (0.74 v 0.77), assists per 90 (0.13 v 0.12), pass interceptions per 90 (2.31 v 2.3) and expected goals per 90 (0.5 v 0.55).

They both pose consistent threats, but with Fati eight years Gnabry's junior, he is the one now set to start for the foreseeable future.

Given the project being built in north London, there is arguably no better place in Europe to hone his skills, exorcising the clubs' demons of the past by finally nurturing a young wide man who bares striking similarities to the star they failed.

Moeen protects injured finger as England look to regroup

Frustration at the result in Brisbane and irritation at the contrivance behind the Jonny Bairstow headbutt incident should give England “extra fire” in Adelaide, according to James Anderson

We can have fun in Australia without being stupid – Anderson

Frustration at the result in Brisbane and irritation at the contrivance behind the Jonny Bairstow headbutt incident should give England “extra fire” in Adelaide, according to James Anderson.Anderson, England’s vice-captain, admitted his side were “not good enough” at capitalising on good opportunities in the first Test. But he felt the frustration at failing to seize those chances and the irritation at Australia’s tactics should “galvanise” England.”We were very frustrated with the way the game finished in Brisbane,” Anderson said. “But we played some really good cricket. We started really well over the first three days. We had our noses in front at times but we just weren’t able to capitalise.”Being 240 for 4 and then being bowled out for 300 is not good enough. And then having them 200 for 7 and not finishing off the tail is not good enough. We know we have to be better in those situation.”That’s why it’s frustrating for us. But it’s something we can really build on and take extra fire from. The experience of having been there in those situations and not capitalising on them will help us going into the next few Tests. Hopefully we will make a point of pushing them home if we do get into them again.”Admitting he had not experienced an Ashes soap opera “quite as bad” as the Bairstow incident – with Australia mocking outrage at his odd greeting to Cameron Bancroft a month previously – Anderson said England had to stick together and not allow themselves to be distracted.James Anderson on…

The curfew:
“It is not like we are party animals out till three every night. We are here to play cricket and win a Test series and we are focussed on that.”
Sledging:
“It’s something I’ve always enjoyed. When someone is trying to get under my skin in all walks of life it makes me more determined to succeed. They were fairly quiet for the first few days when we were doing well. It was only on the fourth day when they became vocal.”
Pace:
“We are not going to become 90 mph bowlers, so we have to try and work out ways of getting wickets with the attack we’ve got. Here – with a pink ball and lights – is somewhere we can use our skills that will really suit our bowling attack.”
Steve Smith:
“He was the difference between the teams in Brisbane. You almost have to take him out of the picture when you’re bowling because if you watch what he’s doing, it distracts you from where you want the ball to go. Hopefully more pace in the wicket might help us.”

“The Ashes always seem to bring things up off the field,” he said. “There is always something that crops up and they waited until they were ahead in the game to do it.”It’s down to us to really focus on the cricket. We’re here to win an Ashes series. We’re not bothered about a war of words with the Australians, we just want to outperform them.”We have a really tight group of players who really get on well and are trying to win a big Test series.”We don’t need an extra incentive, but if we did it will give us that. It has probably brought us closer together as a group. If anything it will galvanise us as a group.”We want to stick together as a group and perform well on the field. We’re enjoying each other’s company. We’ve got a really nice group of lads and a good team spirit, but the most important thing is how we do on the field. We did it for three days in Brisbane and it has to be longer here.”Anderson didn’t bowl in the nets on Thursday. While that is slightly unusual – he tends to bowl two days before a game and do little, if anything, the day before – he insisted he was fit.”I’m not sure where the rumour about my fitness came from or who made that up in the commentary box,” he said, referring to persistent rumours that he was injured mid-way through the Brisbane Test. “I’ve been absolutely fine. I got hit on the shoulder while I was batting but apart from a little bruise, there is nothing serious. Certainly nothing that’s going to stop me playing.”A more pressing concern for England was the fitness of Moeen Ali. He also didn’t bowl at training on Thursday – though he batted for nearly the entire three-hour session – in an attempt to give his spinning finger every opportunity to heal before the Test starts on Saturday. While what was once a cut has scabbed and blistered nicely, there must be a concern that the rigours of bowling will again rip it open. There is little thought of him missing the game, though. While he was comprehensively out-bowled by Nathan Lyon in Brisbane, his ability to bat and the fact that England’s only other spin option is a 20-year-old legspinner suggest he will retain his place even if it means he has a slightly reduced workload.Moeen Ali had a long bat but didn’t bowl during England’s net session•Getty Images

Neither he or the England management are especially concerned about his bowling in the first Test. While he played down the extent of the finger injury after the game – he said he simply bowled poorly – the truth is the cut badly impeded him. He felt that, had he bowled in the first innings of the match on a surface that was tacky, he too would have gained sharp turn but that the cut prevented him from putting the necessary revolutions on the ball.Craig Overton was one of those who did impress at nets on Thursday. Bowling a wonderfully nagging length, he troubled several batsmen and can have done his chances of selection no harm. Despite being dismissed for a duck in each of the three innings he has had on tour so far, he might also provide just a bit of fibre to a tail that was blown away by Australia’s pace and hostility. It remains likely, however, that England will stick with Jake Ball in the hope that conditions in Adelaide are more to his liking.Meanwhile Anderson revealed that, during England’s second innings in Brisbane, he had questioned the umpires over the number of short balls being bowled at England’s tailenders.”I don’t know how seriously they take that and I don’t know what constitutes dangerous bowling,” Anderson told the BBC. “It was mentioned to Marais Erasmus in the last game but he didn’t seem to think it was too bad. We’ll have to prepare for some more short stuff.”I was batting with Jake Ball in the second innings and Pat Cummins bowled two short balls over shoulder height. There was a third very close that wasn’t given and I questioned when does it get dangerous. He said he was happy with it at the time. It’s down to the umpires. We have to plan to get a barrage, which we are.”It’s very clear how they will attack us. We saw that with the fields they set to the tailenders and what they bowled at us. It’s our job to get in the nets and figure out ways of combating that. We have to find scoring options, ways of defending yourself and ways to stay at the crease if you’re with a batsman. Every run is crucial out here and we know we’ll have to get some runs down the bottom if we’re going to have success.”

Hearts: Naismith Could Unearth An Ideal Shankland Heir in 19 y/o "Finisher"

Heart of Midlothian have begun their 2023/24 campaign in impressive fashion. The Gorgie outfit have recorded a win and a draw in their opening two Premiership fixtures and have qualified for the League Cup quarter-finals.

The 4-3 aggregate victory over Rosenborg has been the most pleasing aspect so far however, going through to the playoff round where they take on Greek side PAOK this week.

Amid the glorious start to the season, could Naismith be close to losing his talisman?

Is Lawrence Shankland leaving Hearts?

The Scot has been in sensational form since moving to Tynecastle in the summer of 2022 from Belgian side Beerschot.

He netted 28 goals across all competitions during 2022/23, including three in Europe and has carried this momentum into the current campaign, scoring four goals over five matches to give Hearts a solid start.

This type of form was always going to pique interest from other clubs, and now it appears as though teams from Saudi Arabia and England have made enquiries regarding his availability.

The Jambos are in no rush to sell according to Edinburgh Evening News and would only let him depart the club should an offer arrive in the region of £3m-£4m along with some add-ons, representing a major profit considering they signed him for just £500k.

It would be a major blow for Naismith to lose a player who has shone during his spell in Edinburgh so far and who could be the difference between playing European group stage football or not.

If he does move on, the club may just have an ideal future heir for the 28-year-old waiting in the wings – Mackenzie Kirk.

Who is Mackenzie Kirk?

The son of former Hearts striker Andy Kirk, the youngster is aiming to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a regular in the first team.

He is making a solid start to these aspirations, netting 25 goals across just 35 matches for the B side since the start of the 2021/22 season and these are numbers which will surely keep getting better.

Under former manager Robbie Nielson, Kirk made his senior bow in April 2022 against Ross County, coming off the bench for a short cameo, and he received praise from his boss following the game.

Steven Naismith

“It was good for Mackenzie to come on,” Nielson said. “He’s had a wee injury, then he came back in and scored in the Youth Cup semi-final recently. He has been doing well and he is a natural finisher.

“There was only a couple of minutes to go on Saturday and Boycie had cramp. We were going to take him off so it was time to give the boy a chance. We put him on and, if there’s anybody at the club going to nick a goal, it’s Kirky. He’s that type of player.”

This certainly gave him the confidence boost he needed as Kirk went on to score 17 times for the B side in the Lowland league last season and has continued this rich vein of form into the current campaign, netting six in six.

Should Shankland depart Edinburgh for pastures new, Naismith should have no worries about giving Kirk a chance.

The 19-year-old has shown he is an out-and-out striker and if given the opportunity, could repay the manager handsomely.

Man United: £151k-p/w signing could impact Mason Mount badly

Manchester United are still very active in the transfer market despite the summer window closing on Friday, and now a new update has emerged on a potential late move.

What's the latest Man United transfer news?

According to German transfer journalist Christian Falk, Man United are discussing a potential "swap loan deal" with Bayern Munich for Scott McTominay and Ryan Gravenberch.

Falk revealed on social media:

"TRUE. Bayern is interested in Scott McTominay. Also a swap loan deal with Ryan Gravenberch is discussed."

Such a move could well be bad news for the injured Mason Mount.

How long is Mason Mount injured for?

Erik ten Hag has had to deal with a number of issues plaguing the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign, with injuries mounting and concerning performances on the pitch.

New signing Mason Mount has struggled to make an impressive impact in the centre of the pitch following his £60m move to Old Trafford, and has now suffered a setback with a thigh injury.

Indeed, that will be enough to reportedly keep him out of the match-day squad until at least the end of September, as per Premier League Injuries.

What is Ryan Gravenberch good at?

As a result, the signing of Gravenberch could be a great opportunity for Ten Hag to not only offload McTominay, but add quality depth in the midfield presence and provide Mount with strong competition.

ryan-gravenberch-premier-league-man-united-transfers

The £151k-per-week midfielder is no stranger to the former Ajax coach as he broke through the Dutch club's academy to become a first-team regular, before moving last summer to Bayern Munich when Ten Hag moved to Manchester.

The now Man United boss was extremely fond of the Netherlands prodigy and waxed lyrical about Gravenberch whilst working with him back in 2022:

"Ryan is a very young player," Ten Hag claimed.

"He's very important for our team because he's a box-to-box player. He accelerates out of positional play, does good dribbling, has tremendous passing ability and participates in the build-up play.

"Due to his athleticism and physique, he is also strong in the transition game and can also win the balls. He's come a long way, but can still learn a lot."

Despite finding himself lacking in game-time with the Bundesliga champions, Gravenberch has still managed to maintain his high standards when given opportunities.

Indeed, he ranks in the top 25% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues per 90 minutes for shots on goal, successful take-ons, tackles, progressive passes and shot-creating actions.

Mason Mount

Not only that, when comparing Gravenberch's output to Mount's last season, the two midfielders came close in a number of key attributes including shots on target rate (27.3% v 27.3%), pass completion rate (87.4% v 75.2% in favour of Gravenberch), shot-creating actions per 90 (3.91 v 3.11), percentage of dribblers tackled (52.8% v 51.9%) and aerial duels won (40% v 39.1%), as per FBref.

With that being said, if Ten Hag could secure the signing of a "top talent" such as Gravenberch over the remaining days of the window it would certainly pose as bad news to Mount.

However, it would give United a player who can not only bolster the midfield presence in the absence of the Englishman, but also slot in perfectly due to his already sound understanding of the manager's philosophy and style of play.

Man United Executive Flies Overseas To Meet Key £30m Target

As the Manchester United pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat heats up on transfer deadline day, director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves has reportedly flown to Italy.

What is the latest transfer news on Man United and Sofyan Amrabat?

The Red Devils have been chasing the Fiorentina midfielder for some time but don't appear to be able to pay full price for the player.

Indeed, as per The Times, Man United "cannot afford to meet Fiorentina’s £30 million asking price" but they are trying to loan the Morocco international instead.

That same report notes how Amrabat himself doesn't even know what the future holds as he said this week: “If I go away, I don’t know . . . maybe I could stay."

As per The Athletic, the Premier League outfit did make a €2m (£1.7m) loan bid but it was unsurprisingly turned down by Fiorentina.

But in a fresh update, shared by David Ornstein on Twitter, "Manchester United director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves has flown to Italy" to try and complete a deal. However, there is "no agreement" between the clubs for the 27-year-old as of yet.

Interestingly enough, there were reports in the Manchester Evening News about a private jet which has been booked from Florence to arrive at Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon at 12.52pm (UK time).

That article also noted that: "United have not denied the possibility they have arranged the private jet".

And while, after Ornstein's latest update, it might seem unlikely that another flight would be booked quite so soon after Hargreaves' has arrived in Italy, as it is a private flight, it is possible the scheduled time could be pushed back to allow for protracted negotiations.

Now, in a further update from Fabrizio Romano, the player is "on his way in order to undergo medical tests as new Man Utd player after agreement reached."

How many goals has Sofyan Amrabat scored?

As per The Athletic, Hargreaves is a former executive at Adidas and was only appointed to his role at United in March, starting work this summer. So this will be one of the first major deals he would have been involved with for the club.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if he returns to Manchester alone, or if he can successfully complete a loan deal for the 27-year-old midfielder.

In Amrabat, United certainly won't be getting an attacking player. After all, in 107 games at his current club, he has scored just one goal, while also picking up only one assist. In fact, across his entire senior club career, he has only netted five times having made 228 appearances for four different teams.

However, the Red Devils should be landing a pretty feisty defensive midfielder if they can get this deal across the line. Indeed, during the 2022 World Cup, Moroccan journalist Amine El Amri called the player a "raging bull" when speaking to TalkSPORT.

"Sofyan Amrabat is a great footballer in addition to being a raging bull," they said. "I’m trying to be as objective as I can, but I think he’s been the best midfielder in this World Cup.

“I have nothing but respect for guys like Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Rodrigo De Paul and many others, but I think he’s been absolutely the best player in midfield in this World Cup.”

Kohli named ICC's cricketer and captain of the year

Australia’s Steven Smith took home the other big prize as he was recognised as the best Test player of 2017

ESPNcricinfo staff18-Jan-2018India’s Virat Kohli hit a windfall at the ICC awards after being named both cricketer and captain of the year. He also regained a trophy he had won for the first time in 2012 as he was named ODI player of the year as well. The corresponding prize for Test cricket went to Australia’s Steven Smith. All the winners

Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year – Virat Kohli (India)
Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year – Steve Smith (Australia)
Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year – Virat Kohli (India)
Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year – Hasan Ali (Pakistan)
Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year – Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
Men’s T20I Performance of the Year – Yuzvendra Chahal (6-25 v England) (India)
David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year – Marais Erasmus
ICC Spirit of Cricket – Anya Shrubsole (England)

In the qualification period from September 21, 2016 to the end of 2017, Kohli scored 2,203 Test runs at an average of 77.80 including six double-centuries, 1,818 ODI runs at 82.63 including seven hundreds, and 299 T20I runs at a strike-rate of 153. With him at the helm, India are ranked among the top three teams in the world as well. All of that came culminated in his becoming the ICC cricketer of the year and winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.”It’s probably the biggest award that we have in world cricket,” Kohli said. “Two Indians getting it back to back makes it more special. Last time it was [R] Ashwin, this time I’m getting it so I’m really really honoured and I’d like to thank the ICC for recognising all the hard work that we all put in for our respective sides and I want to congratulate all the other winners also.”Smith’s numbers were equally mind-boggling. Though the coup de grace was his performance in the Ashes, scoring runs with such frequency that comparisons with Don Bradman was made with every passing innings, he has been in sublime form for at least four years, scoring over 1000 Test runs in each of them. In the ICC’s qualification period, he made 1,875 runs in 16 matches at an average of 78.12, with eight hundreds and five half-centuries.”It’s a great honour to receive this award for the second time, having won it in 2015 as well,” Smith said. “It’s called Test cricket for a reason, and I’ve enjoyed that test of my ability over the past 12 months.ESPNcricinfo Ltd”I got six Test hundreds for the year in 2017, which I was pleased about. I was pleased with the way I played but what pleased me most of all was that I helped us win Tests and, most importantly, The Ashes. To make a contribution in big matches and in big series and assist the team is what it is all about for me, and if I’m doing that then there’s a good chance that awards like this will follow.”Four of the last five ICC Test players of the year are Australian, starting with Michael Clarke in 2013, Mitchell Johnson in 2014 and Smith in 2015 and 2017.Moving to ODIs, Kohli was among the prime candidates to win the award. Only 29 years old, he hit his 32nd century recently, going past Ricky Ponting’s tally and moving ever closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s. “Twenty-sixteen for me I think was a breakthrough year and I was able to continue in 2017 also,” he said. “I think I worked even harder in 2017 and understand this has been a good phase for me but I will have to work even harder in future to play the same level of cricket I have been able to play in the past two years. But yeah, 2017 was indeed a very special year for me.”Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali was named emerging player of 2017. This follows his becoming the quickest from his country to 50 ODI wickets (in 24 matches) and a player-of-the-series winning performance in the Champions Trophy. The 23-year old also topped the ICC rankings in one-day cricket when his career was only 426 days old. Only two others have risen to the top at a better rate.”It has been memorable past 16 months for me as a young player and Pakistan as a team,” Hasan said. “This acknowledgement will not only inspire me to do even better in the coming seasons but will also convince the next generation of cricketers that hard work and good performances can never go unnoticed.”This award is for all those who believed and backed us in the journey, and look forward to their continued patronage as the next 18 months will be more challenging with the World Cup in 2019.”Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan legspinner, was named the Associate player of the year and claimed a place in the ODI team of 2017 as well. India’s wristspinner Yuzvendra Chahal taking 6 for 25 to send England crashing from 113 for 2 to 127 all out was adjudged the T20I performance of the year. The ICC distributed their awards for women’s cricket in December 2017, with Australia’s Ellyse Perry winning player of the year.

Finch, Bravo dominate as Sixers lose their fifth straight game

Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsMelbourne Renegades rocked Geelong and rolled to their third win of the season by dismembering the Sydney Sixers, and climbing to third on the BBL points table.Sixers, last year’s finalists, have slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat to start the season and look miles off the pace with both bat and ball, albeit having suffered several key absences and injuries.Hometown hero Aaron Finch produced a stunning half-century in the Renegades chase and was ably supported by Cameron White but the game was set up by a disciplined bowling performance. Dwayne Bravo took 3 for 29 but he was only bowler to concede more than 6.5 per over as the Sixers struggled to 8 for 111. Without Johan Botha’s unbeaten 32 they would have fallen well short of 100.Snail’s pace from the SixersA score of 3 for 40 after 10 overs would be a pulsating 45 minutes of viewing in a Test match. Not so in T20 cricket. The Sixers crawled at just four an over in the first half of the innings. Peter Nevill fell to his first ball, the fourth of the innings from Mohammad Nabi, but it was Jason Roy who really struggled. The drop-in surface look very good for batting but Roy really struggled to find his timing. He absorbed a maiden from Kane Richardson in the second over and didn’t show any intent to change Richardson’s lengths or upset his rhythm. Roy holed out to mid-off two overs later off Bravo. Nic Maddinson and Jordan Silk then scored just two boundaries between them in the 42 balls they faced in the first 10 overs, 20 of which came in the Powerplay.Aaron Finch hastened Renegades’ victory push with a 38-ball half-century•CA/Cricket Australia/Getty Images

Botha’s cameoThe Sixers slumped to 6 for 65 after 14.1 overs and looked set to be bowled out for under 100. Maddinson was run out by a brilliant throw from Bravo. Botha then promoted Sean Abbott and Daniel Sams ahead of himself and both failed to fire. Botha took five balls to get off the mark but then found his groove. He was the only Sixers batsman to find the boundary more than twice and the only of the four who reached double figures to strike at more than 89. He didn’t try and overhit the ball, using his crease well to the spinners and picking Bravo’s slower ball better than most have this season, hitting him 89m over the long boundary. Botha scored 32 from 23 balls while the other eight Sixers batsmen scored just 77 from 97.Finch fires at homeIt’s very rare for Finch to go four T20 innings without a significant contribution. But his last four T20 innings had yielded just 20 runs from 24 balls. The Geelong native struggled through his first 12 balls scratching together just ten runs. His first boundary came via a top edge over the ‘keepers head that carried for six. But, he then exploded in the sixth over, targeting debutant Mickey Edwards. He launched the first ball over long off for six. Mid-off was sent back to the rope and three balls later he lofted over mid-on for four. Edwards dragged his length short to avoid a third strike down the ground and Finch cracked a pull shot through midwicket. The 16-run over only just lifted the run-rate above six-an-over at the end of the Powerplay.White gives Finch companyMarcus Harris fell in the first over but White played the perfect support role. He fed off Finch with a slog-swept six and reverse lap for four in the seventh over from Will Somerville. Together the duo added 91 runs in 75 balls.Finch reached his 15th BBL half-century off 38 balls and his acknowledgement of his home crowd showed this one meant slightly more than the others. His innings was ended by a remarkable piece of fielding from Roy: White prodded a ball forward of point and called Finch through, but Roy zipped to his right, collected in the right hand and hit the one stump he could see while throwing off balance. White finished unbeaten on 49, one short of his third half-century of the tournament, when Bravo hit the winning runs with 27 balls to spare.

West Ham Make Bid For 19 y/o Attacker

West Ham are battling to sign Ernest Nuamah before the transfer deadline transfer, and a big update has dropped regarding his future.

Who is West Ham target Ernest Nuamah?

The Hammers have had a busy summer to date, experiencing the disappointment of losing captain Declan Rice to Arsenal, but replacing him with some genuine quality.

Edson Alvarez has arrived from Ajax, in what represents an exciting piece of business, while Southampton's James Ward-Prowse also looks like a shrewd acquisition in the middle of the park, too.

The hope is that West Ham's transfer business isn't quite done yet, as they look to give themselves the best possible opportunity to kick on in 2023/24 and build on their fantastic UEFA Europa Conference League success.

One player who could move to the Premier League before the end of the month is Nuamah, who has emerged as an exciting young player for Danish side Nordsjaelland. He has scored 20 goals in just 49 appearances for them, as well as already winning one cap for Ghana, despite his age.

A fresh update has now dropped regarding West Ham's interest in the 19-year-old, with a significant development taking place.

Will West Ham signing Ernest Nuamah?

According to Football Insider, West Ham have now tabled an offer for Nuamah this summer, with the teenager also being tracked by Spurs:

"West Ham have submitted an offer for FC Nordsjaelland star Ernest Nuamah, sources have told Football Insider. The Hammers are in the market for more attacking reinforcements and have made a formal move the 19-year-old winger after shortlisting him as a top target.

"The exciting youngster has attracted plenty of Premier League attention, with Burnley also understood to have submitted a concrete offer while Tottenham and Brighton are also very keen admirers.

"Nuamah’s performances in Denmark’s top division earned rave reviews this season and he is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Europe."

Nuamah, a left-winger who can play on the right or through the middle, looks like a hugely exciting prospect with a big future in the game, with such a prolific goalscoring record for his current club outlining his potential greatly. Flemming Pederson, technical director at Nordsjaelland, has lauded the youngster in the recent past, saying:

"Ernest is first and foremost a dribbler. He is incredibly fast, has a huge acceleration, and a good agility. He is primarily left-footed, but can also use the right. He is a great individualist with tremendous power, who has great potential to also become a skilled team player."

There is no question that Nuamah is still a raw footballer learning his trade, so it would be a surprise if he came in as a regular starter for the Hammers, but he is someone who may well be viewed as a massive part of their future, also proving to be an exciting squad player from the off.

His pace, unpredictability and goal threat could be a really effective weapon for West Ham off the substitutes' bench, at a point when opposition legs are tiring, and it is a signing that would be met with even more happiness if the east Londoners pipped Spurs to his services, as well as the likes of Burnley and Brighton.

Everton Bid For Che Adams: Update From Southampton Reporter

After struggling for goals last season, Everton are reportedly looking to sign a forward this summer, potentially giving Sean Dyche the forward he needs to lead the line.

Last season, the Toffees scored the second least number of goals in the Premier League, with their tally of 35 only better than Wolverhampton Wanderers' total of 31.

The Merseyside club are working on a solution to their problems, however.

What's the latest on Che Adams to Everton?

Providing an update on Everton's pursuit of Che Adams, Jacob Tanswell and Paddy Boyland of The Athletic have reported that the Toffees have made a £12m bid for the Southampton striker.

Tanswell revealed noise from the Saints end is that the offer is reasonable: "Everton have made a £12m offer to sign Che Adams from Saints. Adams is in final year of his deal with no extension discussed. #NFFC & #afcb have shown interest but #EFC are long-standing admirers & put in a bid viewed as reasonable."

The Merseyside club look set to win the race to sign the Scotland international, who has also reportedly attracted interest from Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth this summer.

Adams, of course, has been busy getting off to a flying start in the Championship, scoring twice in as many games for the Saints, who will no doubt be desperate to earn promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

They may have to do it without their star striker, though, as the end of the transfer window looms.

Should Everton sign Che Adams?

Southampton striker Che Adams.

Everton's goal scoring problems were exposed for all to see on the opening day of the season, as Fulham defeated the toothless Toffees 1-0 at Goodison Park.

Given Dominic Calvert-Lewin's consistent injury problems, too – the England international missed 14 games last season – signing a striker is imperative for Everton's top flight status. And that's where Adams could come in. The 27-year-old is Premier League proven, making him an ideal option to provide support to fellow new arrival Youssef Chermiti.

In the last campaign, even as Southampton suffered the heartbreak of relegation, Adams scored 10 goals in all competitions, which would have made him Everton's top goal scorer.

Even as his future remains undecided, too, the forward's attitude has not changed, resulting in praise from Saints manager Russell Martin, who said, via The Irish News: "The hardest decision for the team was to decide which one (striker) we played, I think we can get both on the pitch as well. They both got a goal and the way Che reacted to not playing was amazing – brilliant energy and so respectful.

“There was a lot of noise around him, we turned down a bid for him a couple of weeks ago and nothing has happened since. The way he dealt with that is amazing. He got a nice reception getting off the bus from Sheffield Wednesday fans, so for him to score I am delighted.”

Statistically speaking, too, Adams would be an instant upgrade on Neal Maupay.

According to FBref, the Scottish forward made more progressive passes and carries, enjoyed better take-on success, and was dispossessed fewer times throughout last season.

Every way you look at it, Adams seems like a player who would improve Dyche's side, and potentially steer them away from the relegation scrap this season. With their £12m bid reportedly deemed reasonable, we may well see the Southampton man make the move before the window slams shut.
